Sprinkles, Shakes & Sister Shenanigans at Jerzey Junction

One of the absolute best parts of owning an ice cream and candy shoppe (besides sampling all the sweets... strictly for quality control, of course) is the chance to get creative! At Jerzey Junction, it’s not just about scoops and sugar- it's about creating an experience that makes you want to swing by again and again.
Last weekend, Debbie and I sat down- armed with notebooks, way too many ideas, and probably a little too much caffeine (for me anyways)- and planned out one seriously fun season. We’re talking monthly shake, sundae, and float specials that are as delicious as they sound. We were practically bouncing in our chairs just thinking about them, and we know you’ll be just as excited to sip and scoop your way through the months with us!
But wait, there’s more... We also dreamed up some community events that we think you’re going to love. From silly little contests, guest scoopers, to nostalgic movie nights, we’re all in. If Mother Nature plays nice and our amazing guests show up (and we think you will!), we’re hoping to make these events a regular thing.
Of course, someone has to keep my whirlwind brain from turning the shoppe into a full-blown candy amusement park. That someone? Debbie. She’s the calm to my chaos, the reality check to my wild ideas... which is hilarious, because if you know us, you know Debbie’s usually the wild one! Who knew she had it in her to be the “level-headed” sister (once in a while).
Now, since we’re talking about Debbie- let me brag a bit. Did you know Debbie Kulow is also a preschool teacher? Yep, she’s been at Teddy Bear Preschool for 26 years (cue the applause) and will be the proud new owner next year! Honestly, if you’ve been in Lake Mills longer than five minutes, you’ve probably heard a tiny voice scream “Mrs. Kulow!” from across the grocery store or in the park. I swear it takes us an extra hour to get anywhere with her because we stop to chat with every kid... and their mom... and their grandma... #SmallTownCelebrityLife
Families would literally line up hours before registration just to snag a spot at Teddy Bear Preschool. If that’s not dedication, I don’t know what is. She still has a few spots open for 2026 (I know, crazy), but blink and they’ll be gone. Just saying!
Debbie’s also a full-blown Disney adult. She somehow sneaks away to the Magic Kingdom more than any of us can keep track of—but hey, it just adds to her sparkle. She’s got a heart of gold, loves her family fiercely, and somehow manages to balance it all (well, as best she can).
Okay, so talking about myself? Not exactly my favorite thing, but here goes!
I’m the sensible sister of the group—the one who keeps Debbie, Stacie, and Jenny (our other sisters) in line and corralled. Oldest sister duties, you know how it is. I’ve also owned and operated HDM Towing & Truck Center for the past 25 years. When people ask what I do, jaws drop a little when I say I own a commercial towing and truck repair business. I guess I don't look the part??? I’m deeply involved in the towing industry- serving on various boards and committees, speaking at industry events, attending conventions across the country, and even snagging a few awards along the way (humble brag!). My passion lies in keeping our towing professionals safe and respected—this industry is tough, and it's 24/7/365. #TowingIsALifeStyle
When I do get a moment away from work (rare, but it happens!), I love spending time with my family. In the last six years, that family has grown beautifully—thanks to weddings and grandbabies! My grandkids are my greatest joy in life (sorry kids- you were knocked down one peg), and I soak up every second I can with them. I also love to travel and consider myself a self-proclaimed foodie. Give me a great dish and a new city, and I’m in heaven. Next time you come in give me a destination to try! I will add that to my bucket list once I am able to get away more (lovin' on those grands right now)!
Thanks to our incredibly talented (and patient!) husbands, we’ve been able to turn Jerzey Junction into something really special. It’s been the cherry on top of our already wild lives, and we couldn’t love it more.
So next time you swing by Jerzey Junction for a scoop (or three), just know you're stepping into a place built on a whole lot of love, laughter, sisterly squabbles, and a sprinkle or two of magic.
Come on by—summer’s going to be so sweet.
Stay sassy and keep it sugary,
Michelle
